Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, U.S. House of Representatives, (NY-12), was featured in Vogue attending this year’s annual Met Gala. This year’s gala was in celebration of the Costume Institute’s newest exhibition, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” and featured American designers. Rep. Maloney has long used fashion as a force for change, and for this year’s Met Gala, she wanted to bring attention to certification of the ERA. Rep. Maloney wore a gown in suffragist colors complete with a cape embroidered with the phrase “Equal Rights for Women” and white ‘ERA’ letters down the front of the dress.
